Toronto Arts Events You Have to Go to This December

Winter is here, and with the sunshine gone it's difficult to keep yourself occupied during the cold winter. There's a lot going on this December and we didn't want you to miss out! Here's a list of arts events Purple Glow Mag recommends going to when you're tired of being held prisoner by the wind and snow.

Dance Me/Music of Leonard Cohen - Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal (BJM)

December 15 - Sony Centre for the Performing Arts

On December 15, BJM is bringing their Leonard Cohen tribute for its Toronto premiere. The Montreal based dance company rarely performs in Toronto so be sure to get a ticket while you can.  You can buy tickets here

 

 

The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection

December 2 - January 6 - Liss Gallery

This December celebrate the 60th anniversary of Dr. Seuss favourites, such as "The Cat in the Hat" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" at the Liss Gallery. More info can be found here.

 

String Quartet No. 14 in G Major - Rock Bottom Movement & DanceWorks

Rock Bottom Movement and DanceWorks present String Quartet No. 14 in G Major December 13-15. They describe it as a "quasi-autobiographical dance play", created by David Bernstein and Alyssa Martin. Human Flow - Ai Weiwei

December 13 - 21 - Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema

Hot Docs is playing Human Flow this month, a documentary by Ai Weiwei about the global refugee crisis. Tickets can be found here.

 

Art Battle Toronto - Holiday All-Stars!

December 19 - The Great Hall Toronto

Art Battle is hosting a live competitive painting event this holiday season. Visit The Great Hall on December 19th to watch artists paint live or to pick up some last-minute gifts. Admission is only $10 for students, and $15 if you grab them early, so this event is perfect for all you broke students and artists. (art students?) December 22 - Smiling Buddha

Rock out at the Smiling Buddha on December 22nd to some local music. This 19+ event is only $10, and is sure to be a good time.

Bad Dog Theatre is the perfect place to go if you want hilarious and inexpensive comedy. (Tickets as low as $5!)
